This one...wow. The plot twist on this book got me. Honestly, I was not expecting that ending. I'd guessed that Zahra was probably at the grandparents house, which was correct, but I did not manage to guess the circumstances that had put her there.
Honestly, I feel like that may be because there weren't enough hints dropped. We see that Ruthie is oddly cold about her mother's death and doesn't discuss it, see that she has some anger issues, see that her and Zahra did not seem to be very close in the time that Ruthie was in Oregon at all. But I don't know how much was hinted at her severe mental illness and the fact that she murdered Bailey. It's not even slightly hinted at that she knows something. Even with Seb how she made up that rumor about him torturing that woman's dog -- Ruthie genuinely seems to not remember doing that.
It would be one thing if she had blocked all of that out and didn't remember any of it, but when her and Zahra meet back up and the POV switches to Zahra, she seems to remember immediately. When we're in her POV, that isn't the case. She acted like a totally different character in Zahra's POV. She's cruel and remembers right away what she did.
It just didn't make a whole lot of sense to me as a reader.

Sorry, this is not for me. I feel like I already read this book because of similar titles that are out there are not really my thing and it makes it where I then don't know who I would give this book to. And that bums me out because until then, I was pretty satisfied with it!

Holy shit, this book. Grips you from the beginning, and then leaves you breathless with a complete twist ending. I couldn’t put it down.

Wow wow wow. I was very ready to give this book 3 stars but then that ending. I’m so glad I read the audiobook for this. I think it changed the way I viewed the book and I don’t believe I would have had the same experience
