The format is clever, but the main character is challengingly pedantic, oblivious, and antagonistic. The conclusion feels a bit too tidy.

Nope. dnf’ing at 4%. Eleanor Oliphant was a hard enough character to like, I can’t make myself care about this character, too.

I didn't get very far in this book. I didn't care for the writing style or the main character. I thought about sticking with this book longer, but it just did not hold my interest.

Fawn is literally just the worst and I can’t deal with it any more.

Unlikable Main Character
Although I enjoyed the initial premise of the book, I found that I had to force myself to get through this book due to the main character being insufferable, obnoxious, and unnecessarily pedantic. The story is great, but execution-wise makes it unenjoyable. Additionally, there is very minimal character development from Fawn until the very last chapter of the book, and suddenly.

The format was fun but the storyline was boring. And the main character was so annoying.

Picked this up on Amazon's First Reads, and wow, glad it was free. The protagonist was unlikable for 95% of the book and then had a personality transplant and starting acting like she cared about anyone else around her. I kept reading because like a train wreck, I wanted to see what catastrophe she would find herself in next (often of her own making).
I did enjoy the epistolary format, and the writing itself was decent. This was just not the book I thought it was going to be.

This was in no way a Romance (which is what I was led to believe) ... at all. And it might just be one of the most depressing books I've ever read. I went in expecting "you've got mail" vibes, but this was definitely not that. It was kind of just a horrible person being horrible. It was readable enough for me to keep going, but I kept waiting for a turning point that came way too late and didn't work nearly hard enough to turn my feelings for this narrator around. The writing was quite lovely and I love a story told entirely through epistolary elements. But not if the story makes me want to rip my hair out.

Well, i finished my Amazon freebie. The main character was deplorable, but curious, and the ending rushed. It's a shame - the conclusions were decent, just...sudden.
