This was fine. It bothers me a bit when historical non-fiction writes around the subject it's supposed to be about. This happens early in the book when we focus on his parents' - but mostly his father - and Macedonia as a country. I understand that there probably isn't a lot of historical fact about alexander the great but then you just have a shorter book.
The writing itself was a bit dry. It felt more like a textbook thank something you'd pick up on your own.
