This was a book I never wanted to put down! This book tackles some serious issues but in a very light and interesting way. I was very attached to the characters, even though I had nothing directly in common with them. I genuinely wanted to keep reading to find out where their story ended.

I was looking forward to this as I really liked Renee Watson's Piecing Me Together, but I was disappointed by the way the storytelling was overtaken by polemics. Now, I 100% agree with everything the characters were saying in their polemics, but just hearing characters politically analyze every interaction around them doesn't make for great narrative. It was hard to have much emotional investment in what happened with the characters when literally every conversation turns into a political soapbox.

I didn't always love the characters but the writing held me. The book made me think so I liked it.

such a good read!!! i always love feminism and girl power books and throughly enjoyed this one!! i loved Chelsea and Jasmine friendship and the strength that they had throughout the book. i loved seeing the ups and downs and how they were able to perceiver through it all. i’m not a huge fan of my poetry and there was a lot in this book so that wasn’t my favorite. i also didn’t care for one of the love interests. overall it was a really good and powerful read!!!

I loved everything about this book! Instersectional feminism, friendship, romance, family, and above all, some realistic, layered characters who are great role models for teens looking to spark their own activism. A must-read!
