Rachael Herron's writing loves to walk fine lines. She can write about a charming small town without it seeming anodyne. She can write about serious issues (in this case, abuse and issues that can stem from it, like disordered eating) without getting preachy, and she can write characters who feel familiar but aren't generic. Plus she's a feminist knitter writing romance, and that's rad.

I do wish we got to know the hero a bit better, but if you like the strong silent type this might be more up your alley than mine.
