Went into this completely blind (do not recommend) but was really moved by this. It’s challenging to be so in the head of someone who is suffering from disordered eating, especially when there’s an aggressive internal voice that the main character is constantly battling but this story doesn’t glamorize the struggle at all. I think the only thing that kind of nagged at me was the fact that there seemed to be an obvious reason why Jake was being bullied that lead to this conflict that the author just didn’t want to get into. I don’t want to speculate on the authors personal life, even if this book is semi-autobiographical, but maybe they thought the character would have enough problems to deal with. Still would recommend!
