The story of a disintegrating relationship, told in alternating chapters from the husband's and wife's perspective. I am glad I listened to this rather than read it; the mood developed by the readers was perfect. You don't really like either character, especially the husband. It's like observing a train wreck before, during, and after, and you can't turn away. Some of this reminded me of Gone Girl.
I didn't like the end, though, as I did not really get the connection between the rest of the story and the wife's revelation at the end. Maybe I missed a couple of sentences as I was driving.
All in all, a riveting tale.

Delicious. Character development was deftly done. In fact, Todd was so real, he reminds me of my very own son-of-a-bitch from a past life. I happily felt a good healthy dose of schadenfreude at Todd's very timely demise. The only thing this book has in common with Gone Girl is the him/her chapter layout. Otherwise. Sooo not the same.

Interesting dynamic between Todd and Jodi, as well as between Jodi's past and present.
Is Jodi's silence a strength or a weakness?

This book was just like not it for me. I listened to the audiobook of it through Libby and while I do own a physical copy of this book, I've been on an audiobook kick so I decided to listen to it. I'm 100% unpacking this book from my shelf lol

I would like to rate this higher, because it was a well written book. But I found both main characters to be pretty unrelateable, unreliable (which certainly was part of the point), and ultimately frustrating.

the constant rambling of internal monologue from s phycologists was frustrating. and the same from a cheating husband who thinks its okay to have an affair. the story and how it unfolds was great, its just the rambling I couldn't get over. I could have used another round of editing. especially for a 16 dollar paperback.
