This was hard to get through for me, I found it very repetitive and slow paced. The gullaime character was the highlight 

The bits of this I liked, I really liked. There were things I found interesting and want to learn more about in the next books, and who wouldn’t love a story about a band of depressed, condemned pirates shaping up, getting a self esteem boost, and becoming a proper crew on an adventure? And there’s a dragon! 

That said- I think the author really only had half a book’s worth of material. A lot of it was just… weak. Bland allegories for Christianity and racism that are so shallow as to feel written by a 12 year old dominate a lot of it, and it got tedious. I hope there’s stronger stuff in the next book. 

Also, as a side note- I have never in my life seem so many egregious typos and grammatical errors in a single book. I lost count somewhere after 25, to give you an idea of how bad it was. Commas in the middle of five word sentences that didn’t belong, first letters in sentences not capitalized but a letter in the very middle of it randomly capitalized- it’s like NO ONE did even the briefest of proofreadings! What is with that!
