You might want to do a re-read before starting this one....
I was lost. I guess I didn’t realize how long it had been since I read one of these because when other couples started appearing and being part of the story I had no idea who they were or what the bigger overall arc was anymore

** I recommend doing a reread before you pick this one up. Ethan and Trace are referenced in Tall Dark & Heartless. Noah is also from that book. **
Okay, so I’m probably a little biased here because I LOVE this series. I think the world building and unique take on the paranormal world are so clever and well done. I love that we got glimpses into the multiple storylines that are ongoing. I really like Trace and Samantha and I liked the relationship development. They’re probably tied with Chloe and Cristofer for my favorite couple. We also get a lil sneak peek into Kale’s book which I know we’ve all been waiting for years for. I can’t wait to see where this series goes and hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for the next installment!
For new readers: this is not a standalone, you need to start at book 1 to understand what is going on. Also, if you’re not used to R.L.’s writing style it can take some getting used to, but it’s worth it!

It's been awhile since I read these books so ensuring you know the characters from previous stories really helps. I do love these stories. Great for a Paranormal fix.

Too many side stories going on that had nothing to do with this story. not enough Character building, of the new Characters, I had a hard time staying with the book. disappointing.

I’ve waited forever for this book! I am not disappointed. I only wish I read a recap of the previous books before I started this since it’s been awhile since the last pyte book. Still, love this world. Love, love, love.

I loved this book. It was such a fun read. I will be honest in saying that the sub plots and other stories did get a little convoluted at times, but also kept the story moving and definitely kept me on my toes. I loved getting to read about some of the old characters I missed and getting to meet new ones and I can't wait for more!

I've waited a long time for this book and was so disappointed. I don't think I'll be reading any more books from this author. She could have made this book 20 pages long and nothing would have been lost. It jumped around so much you cant keep track. this book was barely about Trace and Samantha, it was about all of the previous characters and adding new ones. There was no story to tell. RL should be ashamed attaching her name to something so terrible. if you didn't read this book and went to the next you wouldn't be missing anything. You couldn't pay me to read this dribble again and I'm considering asking for my money back. Don't waste your time or money on this junk. I miss the way her books use to be! Her books lately are just so disappointing and I'm convinced the positive reviews were paid for or the people giving this book positive reviews don't know how to read.

I enjoyed this book, even though it turned out NOT to be Kyle's story this time. (Though I'm really hoping good things really do come to those who wait). There are a few things that stopped it being a fantastic read, but not enough to bother me greatly.
I liked the basic plot idea and how the author had thought of getting around the issues of Trace being an inexperienced virgin. He did seem a little too mature for a man who'd had zero social interactions since the age of 16, but there was no other way for the story to work so - *shrugs*.
There was lots of different sub-plots within the main plot, which was great and made for one action packed and fast paced read. But, and this is really where that star was lost, all that extra stuff was at the expense of the relationship between Trace and Samantha being developed. It felt rushed and I needed to see more of them just being together forming that connection. I felt that I was "told" as often as I was "shown".
Samantha and Trace were still wonderful characters, I adored them both. Whilst both of them are nicely developed, Samantha did sometimes feel like an amalgam of previous heroines. However with the huge cast of characters that is being built it is reasonable to expect some of them to be similar personalities.
It was great to get a tiny glimpse of two important characters that we haven't seen for a while. Along with some of the new ones introduced in this book there are at least another 5 characters, to my mind, who need their own stories. So all I can add is "Get writing RL Mathewson!"
