This book would have you believe a couple very dangerous and terrible things:
1) Giving dick popsicles and ball-gag teddy bears to young children is how you teach acceptance; and
2) That if men care about a woman's safety and try to be helpful they are misogynistic or if a man tries telling a woman how they feel and why they are worried it is mansplaining.

It had such a promising premise and if it had just stuck with telling the love story rather just as the backdrop for the author's extreme worldview this could have been good.

The tension between the main characters and their internal motivations were real and great to work with but it quickly went off the rails. Every attractive and smart character was a hero had beliefs that aligned with Darby and her friends. Every ugly and overweight (yes, seriously) character thought differently than them and were of course the villains.

Sigh.
