The fun they had and the danger they faced wowed me as a kid. I wished and wished to have been born as their friend.
Famous Five taught me a bunch of things… For starters, always be ready for an adventure! They also taught me to not underestimate little girls. How many times has little Anne saved their lives? Also, I realized early on that there will always be someone trying to dictate your life, but it is important to be true to yourself no matter what.
Must read for kids.

George is such a brick! Anne complains so terribly. Tim is such a fantastic dog. Those kids incredibly lucky to have such wonderful adventures!

The plot shapes really well and after a point, each scene leads to something way worse. This is not much connected to the first book and you can read it even if you haven't ...more

This has long been my favorite Famous Five book ... mostly because of Eileen Soper's illustrations (so if you can find a copy with those included, you're in luck!). I might have had a major crush on Julian as a kid, too .

Sure, there are a lot of inconsistencies us adults might pick up -- but there's adventure, a snowstorm, secret tunnels, and false cupboard walls. What kid wouldn't love that? :D The imagination really can go places with this read. My childhood right there!

Re-reading and reminiscing a childhood book series. Quick and easy to read. I found book two not to be as adventurous as the first. The majority of the book was leading up to The Famous Five big adventure which was mostly in the last 50-60 pages. It still was a good read and I’m looking forward to the next one.
