What a delightful book, full of characters I adore and opening my eyes to a serious subject of how women war workers were treated and how they had to fight for their rights, but keeping the book light hearted, witty and fun nonetheless. I’m looking forward to reading more about Emmy and her friends.

A lovely read about something I didn't know much about. The challenges facing women working during war, the delicate lines firmly laco g them into an "acceptable" way of doing their bit, while being a mother, and being a woman.

This was so charming, just like Dear Mrs Bird. I couldn’t remember most of the characters or what had happened in Dear Mrs Bird (I read that in one go on a cross-country flight) but other than feeling like I may have missed out on some cute surprises at the beginning, it didn’t matter much. I did want Emmy to do a little more with the factories with her reporting, but she is still fairly new to journalism so maybe that’ll be in the next book (I do hope there is one!) This was such a treat to read.
