Tate's writing is more akin to what I expect from queer romance than cishet romance. Including a supporting character living with HIV and showing that a diagnosis doesn't have to be the end of the world reinforces that.
The characters had a great dynamic, the 3rd act break-up makes sense (even if I get a bit 🙄over that trope), I like that neither character was presented as perfect, and I dig extrovert/introvert pairings. That said, people who have survived toxic/abusive work environments and still have scars should be aware that there is some of that and it's an integral part of the plot.
