Fell into a mini reading slump in the middle of March and this got me out of it. It was such a cute small town romance and made me want to watch Gilmore
Girls again. It’s very much a slow burn but it was so endearing to watch how Yara and Alex poured into and supported one another.

You know when you read a book at the perfect time. This is one of those books. I am so glad I read it when I did. What I love about this series is that the romance is a slow burn and not insta love. It is realistic to people starting to slowly fall in love with each other. I absolutely love this series. I am recommending it to everyone. Ps. This book barely has any spice and I was totally okay with that.

This book follows Yara Kingsley and Alejandro (Alex) Ramirez. Alex is a well-known chef that has recently moved to Honey Creek which is Yara's hometown. Yara is the owner of Honey Creek’s doggy daycare.

I was instantly attached to Yara and her story. I was very intrigued as to how her story would go seeing as she was recently separated from her Ex-husband and despite her negative experiences with love/relationships she was still hoping for a HEA.

Alex on the other hand, was having a rough time especially as he was a new person within Honey Creek. He is definitely the opposite of Yara. However, they compliment one another really well. The book reminded me of cute romcom movie set in a small town. If you need a fall read, this is a perfect book !I’m super excited for the next book!

if you love the following tropes, this book is for you:

★ DUAL POV
★ grumpy x sunshine
★ forced proximity
★ opposites attract
★ small town
★ fake dating

This was such an incredible love story- I can’t stop thinking about it!

There was so much depth and emotion to this story, it left quite a mark on me. Alex and Yara are both dealing with trauma and scars that have left them closed off to love. Alex is so grumpy, but I loved every second of it. And Yara.. the happiest and sunshineiest character I’ve ever met.. ahhh when they finally meet, it’s my favorite interaction ever!

It turns out Mr. Grumpy from the city and Ms. Small Town Sunshine need each other. It turns into the most perfect fake dating story. Add in a picnic basket auction (hello Gilmore Girls and Stars Hollow feels), it doesn’t get any better!

The ending. What a twist!!! I did not see that coming and it made this love story that much more amazing. Tears in my eyes, perfection.

This was my first Brittainy Cherry book but it most definitely won’t be my last. I’ll recommend it to anyone who listens!

Read this if you love:
Small Town
Grumpy/Sunshine
Fake Dating
Dogs

I adored this story. It was sweet. It was charming and heartfelt. It was so much fun to read! I loved this town and all the characters. I felt like I was a part of this story reading it. I enjoyed every minute. I could not put this book down and I can't wait for more from this author.

Finished and loved every moment. I have yet to read a Brittainy Cherry book that I didn't love and this book has joined all the rest of her novels on the absolutely loved listed. I laughed hard! I cried and could not put it down. What a beautiful story of coming into one's own, learning to love after being hurt and abandoned and how to fight for what you deserve while still being your authentic self. The road to loving yourself isn't always beautiful and easy but will always be worth it. Bravo! Now we need book 2 asap!

UGHHH this was so cute and so good and cozy and so emotional!!!! I loved every single bit of this story, from dealing with love and loss and grief and cadence, to the romcom vibe of the town of Honey Creek and all its crazy characters. Yara and Alex were a perfectly crafted couple, and their hate to love relationship was done organically!!! I just really love the writing Cherry does, and the fact that all of her characters of color feel real and palatable, never a stereotype or caricature. And also, it was so refreshing to read a romance book with no third act breakup… just falling in love and dealing with the demons and trauma of their pasts together. I appreciated the fact that both Alex and Yara had visible character development, along with Alex’s development of the town, and I also love that even though he was the grumpy black cat boyfriend, he had character growth without sacrificing that aspect of him. This is my second book read by Cherry, and I cannot wait to dive into more!
