Loved this reselling of Wonder Woman! The world building is fantastic and the story is so well written. The twists, while expected, are still a surprise. The characters all have such great depths and while I was disappointed in some of the decisions one of the character makes it was written so well that it they are understandable. I also really liked that it went back and forth between Diana and Alia's points of view.

Recommended 14 and up: great focus on strength of women and fighting for peace; lots of violence and death; focus on Greek/Roman gods; deception and lying plays a major part in the story; concept of killing innocent people in order to stop a war; g/g relationship but not huge focus.

This might be my most disappointing book of the year. I honestly just want a superhero story about that superhero as a teenager, why is that so difficult? This book suffered from the same problem that the Black Widow series suffers from, and that's that I want the story to be about the person it's named after not some random other person?? I would have KILLED for a book about Diana growing up on Themyscira and dealing with the power she holds for the first time, being different from everyone else on the island, and being the Queen's daughter. That would have been fascinating.

Instead, we get this. I don't even really know where to start. The writing was terrible. If this is how Leigh Bardugo writes, I don't understand how any of her novels are popular (I haven't read anything else by her). It was sloppy, basic writing that fit better in a middle grade novel. The plot was predictable and fairly boring. The 'twist' at the end is so infuriating that I don't even want to mention it.

Spoiler
I have a really difficult time with the idea that war isn't rooted in the actions and beliefs of the people creating the war, but in the bloodline of a girl and her family. Placing the mistakes and wars of the world on the back of a teenage girl is insulting to the feminist ideals this book is trying to portray. The characters in this were amazing, until the end when she ruined Jason. This book wraps up too quickly and should have explored the aftermath instead of spending hundreds of pages just getting to Greece by throwing in a random party. The idea that everyone in this story just goes along with every batshit crazy thing that Diana says or does, is so incredibly unbelievable. I'm just so frustrated with how this story played out.

Tbh, this definitely wasn’t one of my favourites of Leigh’s but it was certainly incredibly well done. While I would’ve enjoyed more following the events at the end of the book, this story was remarkably well researched, well written, and well planned. I appreciated the twists in the plot that were unpredictable and the strong focus on female friendship and strength. The messages this story portrayed are ones to never be forgotten.

I wrote a review two years ago and deleted it but here's an updated on:

One day I went to the library during my freshman year of high school and I found this book on the shelf and checked it out quickly because of my love for Wonder Woman. Don't get me wrong the book was good and there was a really good storyline in the beginning but then the more I got into the book I got bored with the storyline and it felt like I was reading the book because I was being forced which led me to hate the book more

4.5 I really liked this. Not only for the Wonder woman story but also the greek mythology and adventure. Reminded me a little of Percy Jackson series in that way. Took me a little ways in the story to figure out when it took place in relation to the movie but it is a standalone story and is not related to the movie.

4.8⭐ actually

I LOVE THIS BOOK JAJAJAJA

Leigh Bardugo's writing style is definitely the type of my favorite...and the plot and the character..oh my😍

I do really hope that they will make a movie about this book, gonna be really amazing tho🙈

"Why don't you give it 5 stars?"

This is going to sound like a weird reason.

Well, this book is almost get a perfect rating from me but there's one thing...the plot twist. Actually, someone told me that there's a twist in this book (but didn't spoil me k). So, from the very first page, i waited for the plot twist while i guessed what it would be...and then the plot twist came and i guessed it right😍 which made me happy and sad but kinda disappointed because i hoped for a big plot twist and a little part of me wanted this book to make me surprised that my guess was not right (now i sounded like a drunk reviewer)...but still, it is a great plot twist👌👌

The summary for the paragraph above:
I don't give it 5 stars because i was exepcting more from this book (especially the plot twist)

If you want to read this book, then go ahead and read it and avoid reading more reviews to prevent spoilers. This book has unexpected plot twists which totally surprised and made the reading experience amazing. In short, having less information on this book is the great way to read it.

In this book, we follow Diana, the wonder woman and Alia, a mortal and also the warbringer who is definitely going to cause another world war. So to stop the war she needs to be killed and there are people who wants her dead.

On the other hand, Diana has to save her sisters and she needs to bring the warbringer to a place described by the oracle where Alia can be purified and will stop the bloodline of warbringers.

Diana and Alia together with their friends must reach the spring at Therapne before the sun sets on the first day of Hekatombaion. And it was no easy travel as they have to fight bad guys along the way.

This book has superpowers and adventure plus characters with sense of humour. On top of that, the story was well written and the scenes were well described. I really loved it.

A highly recommended read to fantasy readers.
