I seem to be in the minority here, I just could not get/maintain interest. I listened to the audio, rewound and replayed parts as my mind was wandering all over the place. I found the first 2/3 of the story so drawn out and well, sorry, boring. The main problem I found was there was not enough show and too much tell, there was so much dialogue it didn't always feel natural to me. The last part of the book was fast paced and tied it all together, but for this reader it was too late, I was already thinking about what I'd be reading next. Can't win them all.

The story plot was very interesting, confusing at times but was very mysterious with plot of a missing girl and her boyfriend who was murdered. The story takes very sad turns at time, and starts off slowly, but when you get to the interesting parts, it´s worth it! There were also some moments that the character suddenly finds everything obvious and a lot of death and some life threatening moments. This book was very entertaining ot read, and I do recommend it.

First Gemma Wodstock series and will definitely read more. Slow start to set the scene but finished strong. Not simple to guess the story!

A more engaging mystery than Book 2 in the series, and a memorable cast of small town characters in a small-town seaside setting. Unfortunately it suffered from too much padding (
the flashbacks to a prior case, the wholly unnecessary plot line with Mac and the surprise pregnancy
).

Also, I have no idea why some words were pronounced wrong -eg. asphalt was said with the /s/ sound instead of 'sh'. I've never in my life heard anyone pronounce it like that except Americans.

An easy to read crime novel, nothing dramatically exciting about this one but did provide a good amount of twists and turns. I would definitely read more of her novels to break up heavier reads.
