I wanted to enjoy this book, the secrecy of the blurb made this novel very intriguing and easy to pick up because I didn't get the chance to judge it. However I definitely should have first. I would have enjoyed this book if it had not been full of personal triggers for me that I was definitely not aware of beforehand. Both characters stories were almost traumatising to read through and I know that was the whole point which is why I could appreciate the writing but this is not a novel I will be reading ever again. It was very eye opening though and it did raise a few very different points. I found myself having to skip over several detailed parts but still managing to follow along with what was happening in the story by simply filling in the gaps. Some events felt very random and didn't seem to align with what was actually going on and whilst the ending did not live up the hype that the authors gave it - I enjoyed this part the most. A tragically heartbreaking story that is reality for so many even in modern society.
