The token effort to insist that Micah's power does not come from their dual nature as a Kedi seemed thin, but at least the author was making the attempt to move away from using Micah's difference as a source of magic, which is a step in the right direction.

I have no words for this book. I just loved it, even more so than the first one. It's thrilling and magical with a great cast of characters and I just ahh. I need to get the next book asap.

3.5 This did not hold my interest as well as the first one. I think the structure of the first one(alternating before and after Micah ran away) helped push it forward a lot more consistently. This one just meandered around and threw out some random facts here and there. Maybe it set up for a great final book, we shall see.
