Xeni on her own is funny. Mason on his own is funny. But the two of them together? Absolutely hilarious. They had the most natural chemistry I’ve ever seen between two character. I was also delightfully surprised that both MCs are
bisexual; rarely do you ever seen a bisexual male lead
and that our leading man Mason was plus sized. That kind of rep is really lacking, especially in romance so I was really happy about that. This was a really enjoyable read and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

 - Everybody was right, this book is so good! Xeni is a fantastic heroine, giving as good as she gets while also being a truly loving and thoughtful person, and Mason is just the same.
- I thought this modern twist on the marriage of convenience trope was so delightful. The premise is ridiculous and every character in the book knows it and rolls with it.
- Additionally, both leads are bisexual, and they have some good discussions about biphobia. I loved that even though they were a hetero couple they were still openly queer, and have some wonderfully queer and fulfilling sex, too.

Whenever I’m reading a Rebekah Weatherspoon book, I wonder, why am I not constantly reading a Rebekah Weatherspoon book? Xeni is a joyful marriage of convenience story about a grieving Black witch and a plus sized bisexual Scottish hero. Weatherspoon delivers impeccable smut, excellent contemporary worldbuilding and models the kind of relationship communication we all need and deserve. This book is a delightful afternoon diversion that normalises diverse romance that acknowledges discrimination and trauma without dwelling in it.
