Xeni by Rebekah Weatherspoon is the second book in the "Loose Ends" series. Xeni's famous aunt Sable Everly passes away and leaves most of her estate to Xeni. Due to Xeni's mother and her other aunts having a decades-old feud with their sister Sable, Xeni has a limited amount of time to clean out her aunt Sable's house alone. That is until she finds out that to claim her inheritance she has to marry her Aunt Sable's young friend and protégée. Well, now Xeni and her new husband Mason can clean out Sable's estate together. They're being trying to make the best of the situation, maybe that includes falling in love.
This was a really cute romance and I enjoyed the read. Both Xeni and Mason seem very attractive. I think the narrator did an okay job on the audiobook. I didn't have very many issues with this book and even though I liked it, it's not my favorite romance. I would recommend this book to a friend though.

Xeni was so much fun! Both the book and Xeni herself, that is. I also wasn’t expecting it to be as smutty as it was (not complaining). Xeni and Mason make for such a sweet, fun loving couple and they had fantastic communication that felt very real and relatable the whole way through.
I loved the writing style, the great cast of supporting characters and all of the love that absolutely oozes out of this book. The reason I didn’t rate it higher was just because I felt my interest slipping towards the end and I wasn’t as hooked as I was in the beginning. I also thought it was just the tiniest bit too rushed.
I would recommend it if you love a big, gentle giant MMC, a marriage of convenience that just feels like two best friends falling in love and a whole lot of fantastic diversity.

From the beginning of the story, I was charmed by Xeni. I loved the way her reaction to grief felt very real and raw. When it came to the love story between her and Mason, it was sweet and effortless. I was in awe at the way their partnership and camaraderie blossomed. It was so refreshing to have a MMC be openly and proudly bisexual. I appreciated the representation as well as Xeni's reaction.
The wonderful setting and amazing supporting cast all make this book a lighthearted, feel-good read. In other words, it's a certified hood classic.

Revisited this one again and had forgotten how funny the dialogue is. It's quick, witty, deadpan, and Xeni and Mason have the most clever retorts (when talking to each other or other characters). I chuckled so much because of their banter. In general, I absolutely love their communication style... they're just so open and authentic. They say what they mean and what they think and give each other grace when they misunderstand something and it's just so healthy!!
This book was just all around inclusive. I loved the representation woven in throughout - in subtle and more overt ways. Whether regarding the experiences (good and challenges) around race, sexuality, gender, reproductive choice, kinks... even nods to the realities of things like systemic racism and gentrification and the toxic power of the corporate class. And shoutout to therapy! This was such a progressive book without beating you over the head with an advocacy message. It was, to borrow a word from my previous review, refreshing.
Xeni and Mason will forever be some of my favorites.
