Read for the Reading Rush 2020
Challenge: Read a book that takes place on a different continent than where you live
I refuse to think Agatha Christie wrote this book. It's so different from her other works, in a bad way. This book has no plot, it's so difficult to even understand what is happening, and I was only interested in the first 50 pages (or less).
I usually recommend to read Agatha Christie's books, but not this one, please do not read this one.

I feel bad for the trees that were cut to be the pages inside this book, I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy. I’m not saying it’s a bad book, maybe it was. But it surely wasn’t something for me, I kept loosing the plot and couldn’t make up a single sentence at times in complete chapters. The characters were so many, I often couldn’t understand shit, and not because the language was hard, it was just like reading a novel in your school curriculum that you have 0 interest in. It was lowkey torture to try and finish it. I’m not sure if it was because of the plot or writing style of 50+ years ago, if it was actually confusing and complex, or just not my type. I am only giving it 2 stars for the starting and the ending that made sense to me, I could understand easily and kinda enjoyed. The starting was fun, and the ending had a Okish plot twist ig, But the middle of the book was like reading another language and my brain begged me to put the book aside or atleast skip a few sentences or sometimes even pages (I didn’t cuz I thought I would loose the plot but guess what, I did so anyways) thankfully I comprehended the important information in between the book and hence could correctly understand the ending. Sorry Agatha but respectfully wtf. One can definitely have more fun reading the book’s summary rather than the book itself.

I was honestly confused most of the time, a lot of characters to keep track of and I think a lot of time specific references that I didn’t understand. Honestly most of her spy book aren’t as good as the murder mysteries

I have to say this is completely surprising. Not at all what I was expecting from the typical stand-alone mystery or espionage adventure.
Right from the beginning with outlandish scenarios that are so hard to believe and yet so intriguing! What will happen next? How can that be? Why? How?
Many a fun wild goose chase and jaw dropping “what if” moments. Very different, but impressive. And the key ingredient - fun!

not really a spy thriller, but more of a dystopian story about the echoes of World War II and the anxieties of the Cold War
