“To hell with Kira.
What matters to me is L.
L.”

You definitely need to read Death Note before reading this, as it has major spoilers for that series. I appreciate what this novel was doing, and I also am always up for more content about or featuring L. I found it to be pretty enjoyable, and I liked all the nods to the original series. However, there were a few things that fell a bit flat for me. Naomi was a little annoying at times, and sometimes the explanations felt too long and repetitive. Overall still good, and I recommend it to all fans of Death Note.

(8/10)- This book was amazing. The characters, the mystery, the narration, almost everything is 10/10. Because Death Note. But I had to remove a bit because the writing was a bit strange. I know that’s partly because of translation, but some of it was not. Especially when the dialogue would be interrupted and either Misora or Mello’s thoughts were put in. It felt very choppy and a bit like telling instead of showing. But otherwise, amazingness.

An interesting and fun prequel/spin-off novel of the popular Death Note manga series (and I could easily see this book turned into a manga), even if a bit illogical given what is laid out in the original manga series. Interesting and fun, but flawed. Totally 3.5/5 stars

Death Note: Another Note is a delightful addition to the original story. It's a quick and refreshing read, surprisingly driven by dialogue. The twists and turns kept me guessing, and I enjoyed following Naomi and Ryuzaki's investigation. It's like experiencing a whole new season of Death Note in book form!

"Don't worry. I'm a top."
"A top?"
"An aggressive top," Ryuzaki said. "I have never even been submissive to a traffic signal."
