I thought this book was so lackluster. Her writing is so elementary and not elaborate at all, and the storyline as so boring--could have been much more entertaining.

Don’t waste your time. Predictable, and even though it tried not to be it was a little demeaning to women.

It’s such a gift that you can travel through books, and especially in the summer months, I love taking a literary vacation! 😆 The French Riviera setting and food descriptions on this “trip” were lovely, but I just never really connected with the story or characters.

Wow. That was an incredible book. Makes me want to talk to my great grandmother about her time in Nice. I've been having an existential crisis about this book and really wish she was still alive to talk to. My grandmere gave me this book because of the author and the fact that my great grandmere knew Picasso back in the day in the Riviera. This is wild, and I need to go stare into a void about it.

For a book that I bought for a dollar at the library book sale, it really hit all the notes for me. It was a little bit about Art, a bit about cooking, a bit French, and a bit of a mystery. I really enjoyed the entire story, going back and forth between Celine and her grandmother Ondine. I was captivated.

This book was wonderful. Although it was a little slow in spots it was delightful and the ending was happy and sad at the same time. If you enjoy reading historical fiction you will enjoy this...it's a back and forth between current time and the early 1900's.
