Compelling enough, if a bit heavy on information dumping.

A very convincing case is developed against common view (put about by the Tudors and Shakespeare ) that Richard III was not the original wicked uncle we all believed but a really decent chap living in difficult times. Well told and particularly relevant after recent events centred on the Leicester car park. Not sure how well the theory stands up today several decades after the book was written but I would like to find out. Very enjoyable.

A really delightful book. I listened to the CD version read by Derek Jacoby and he does a masterful job. But what else would you expect?

About all I knew about Richard III was that he was a hunchback, evil, and he murdered the twin princes in the tower. Sometimes everything you know is wrong.

Somehow, this obscure novel was apparently ranked as the greatest mystery novel ever in 1990, which alone merits a read! However, I dove into it after it being recommended to me due to the fact I was Richard III in a Shakespeare production this story and hence was highly invested in the story. A well-woven historical mystery, made all the more intriguing by the armchair telling of the story, due to the detective, Alan Grant, being a hospital invalid as he unravels the story of Richard III. Maybe he wasn't so evil after all! ;) If you'll pardon the pun, good read!
