The last four hours were great, wasn’t fantastic the whole way through like the first and second of the trilogy.

Love this author. He is so witty and suspenseful plus... recipes! This was his best book of the trilogy. Great ending (sad) but great. He is never generic and writes so well with an eye for the detail that counts and punches n the heart when necessary/// and not just detail and character filling for the sake of it. He knows how to build a character, a love story and an emotion in the reader.

The spycraft was just as fascinating as the previous two novels. The dramatic conclusion of a thrilling series.

Definitely more than your average spy novels. This is a fitting end to the trilogy and I enjoy it that much more thinking how much Vlad must hate it.

Still an enjoyable read but seemed to have less of the scope and intrigue of the previous books.

Well this was a disappointing book to a series I really thought I loved so far.
The main thing that bothered me about this book were the inconsistencies and the lack of attention to detail. It is mentioned that Varna is in Romania when it is actually in Bulgaria (I understand that this has been corrected in other editions), the scene in which Putin ambushes Dominika in her bedroom in 'Palace of Treason' is remembered him wearing red pyjamas instead of blue, and the timeline for Dominika's recruitment in SVR is completely different than in the first book, indicating that Dominika was already a Sparrow for 5 years before she started her mission in Helsinki.
I also didn't think the story was very original when compared to the second book, it's the same old unknown spy in the US sort of business. It was enjoyable, fun for the most part, but it didn't strike me as a must-read book. I also thought that Gable's death was pointless, and it annoyed me that he died from something so stupid while catering to Gondorf's failures, when he is regarded as a master spy with tons of sensitive information and substantial experience.
The ending was meh for me. I didn't see the point of Nate's dying, I didn't understand how Blokhin was back, but I thought the prose very impactful. It was easy to imagine what was going on and it struck you with fear, pain and even sickness from what was happening.
Overall, I wish this would have ended at book 2, this feels more like it was an attempted conclusion but I feel like for fans it's doing more harm than good.

I was not expecting that ending. I think I liked this one least in the series but I'm still glad I read it. I think I'm going to look for more books that are similar to this.

Such an exciting story. Will Egorava remain safe, what will everyone do to make it so? The spy world is painted very coldly as it must be emotionally. But each of the characters is painted in great detail. You could start a conversation with Putin tomorrow after reading this. So sad this is the last of three.

Twists and turns abound. Nice to get back to this series, even if I couldn't get through the movie of the first book!
