This is such a fun twist to parenting books/ parenting guides. I love how the the Casey Gilly doesn’t take herself too seriously and presents something that is both fun and informative. I like the lists and the chapter covers.
Thank you, #NetGalley for the ARC. All words are mine. This review is for an uncorrected copy. #GothParenting

Gilly provides parenting tips beginning at the baby shower and going through to grandparenthood. While short and sweet, even I (someone who is, so far, only a dog parent), can see many nuggets of wisdom tucked between fun and humorous goth, emo, and punk references. Besides Gilly’s writing, Robinson’s illustrations show a variety of goth families of all shapes, sizes, genders, and expressions. I can almost guarantee anyone would be able to find someone like them in this book of less than 100 pages. She truly shows that anyone can be goth (and a parent). This is not a scientific text filled with the latest parenting theories, but is instead a general guide with gentle reminders for parents as they navigate raising a baby bat (or gremlin). It’s something I can see people picking up after a long day when they need a reminder that not burning the house down and getting their child to eat (even if it was just a bowl of pasta) is a victory.
