This is a quirky, cute book! Kind of a silly story, but kids would really enjoy this. I liked the illustrations, and the mix of the realistic backgrounds with Jeffers cartoony drawings on top. Fun book, if not too realistic.

Olver Jeffers is one of the best illustrators in children's literature & one of the most clever storytellers around. This Moose Belongs to Me is a cute story about a boy, Wilfred, who claims a moose as his own & names him Marcel. The best feature of this book is its mix of blatantly illustrations & realistic nature watercolors. Jeffers knows what is necessary to catch the reader's eye. The story is also clever. I would love to see Wilfred's entire list of rules of how to be a good pet.

Not all that a much a fan of this author or this series. But there's some good art in this one. And the writing in unpredictable and interesting. There's not much plot. And maybe not all that much of a point. But it kind of works. 3.5 of 5.

This is a cute picture book that they sell in Kohl's. It comes with an equally cute moose stuffed animal.

I do love Oliver Jeffers' books and this is no different.
It's a great take on the difference between ownership and companionship. And also a great take on what makes a great pet - it's a little bit different for everyone, Wilfred learns, Well, sort of...
The illustrations are wonderful - as usual - and I liked the quirky mix of realistic and stylized.
This is a great read and a great opening to a discussion about why wild animals may not make the greatest pet, in a humourous and delightful way, of course!
Highly recommended!

Reminiscent of last year's I Want My Hat Back with its subtle humor and cross-generational appeal. The story has some great lessons -- do we ever really "own" our pets? do we "own" any living thing? -- stuffed in with its adorable (I'd want that moose, too) and hilarious illustrations and equally entertaining text. I loved it!

A fun story. The illustrations with the juxtaposition of landscape and story didn't work as well for me as others have Jeffers' books. I still enjoyed the illustrations of the characters. The story was fun and well told.
