I enjoyed the story but I think the book could do with another round of editing to really make it shine. There was a lot of repetition in thoughts, ideas, words that kind of slowed things down. I also wasn't really sold on the romance in the beginning. There wasn't a good feel to the progression of it but by the end I really liked it.

I find this a hard one. Because I liked the plot and where it was going, but not the way it was written. Everything happened very fast which made a lot of scènes unrealistic, brought up a lot of questions and made the overall world very vague. The setting was not what it should be in a fantasy book, which -most of all- includes a whole new world. I had no clue what the world looked like.
Overall, I liked the story but it was not that well written. Which leads to me not finishing this series. And that is a bummer since I see lots of potential.

**spoiler alert** I haven’t read a fantasy book in while so being a new year I thought let’s pick one up!

In all honesty I was slightly confused at how Ellie was given powers.. there was no introduction, no backstory as to how or why and just felt as though it was lost within the book.

There were also some characters I wish could’ve been spoken about a lot more and brought into the storyline better. But that being said Ellie and Ren was bound to happen I saw it coming at the beginning of the book.

I did like the drama and adventure mixed into this book though as it allowed us to see the MFC be strong and independent.

Every fae/fantasy cliche in one book. Liked that it was fast-paced, but the characters were all so one dimensional.

Potential spoilers? The first several chapters make such little sense that while on a road trip I started complaining out loud to my friends about how confusing it was. I kept reading because I wanted to see if any of it got explained. It ended up with me going chapter by chapter and giving my friends updates. The only thing that got me through this books was the fact that it made them angry too. And they didn’t even have to read it. Still don’t have any of the answers I’ve been waiting for since like chapter 2/3
