I really didn’t like this book, as it wasn’t for me.
The prologue shows the MacTaggert parents’ relationship. I thought that it was clear to see the Angus didn’t care about his wife, and Francesca was spoilt. I didn’t like them at all as they are bad parents as they only care about the children they want to.
I didn’t really like the situation that starts this book, and how Amelia is supposed to be engaged to Coll, but instead gets to know and spends time with Niall. I found it annoying how Niall doesn’t seem to mind that his mother is blackmailing all of them into doing as she dictates. The author tries to excuse his behaviour by saying that he’s always been the peacemaker, but I don’t see how that means that he does extra to please his mother. Due to Niall’s behaviour, I just couldn’t care about Amelia and Niall’s relationship as I didn’t like Niall and something about Amelia also made me dislike her.
There was something about the writing style that made it hard to connect with the characters and it made the story feel distant.
The ending, of course, made me angry because it shows the forgiveness, which to me doesn’t make any sort of sense since Francesca is still blackmailing them all.
This book dragged as I didn’t care to see what happens with the main characters. I’m definitely not going to continue with this series as the plot isn’t for me. Also, I don’t think that I’ll want to read any other books by this author as I didn’t like the way this book was written.

I cannot stomach the idea of reading the redemption of a woman who abandoned her sons because she's actively xenophobic. Wtf. I don't particularly care about reading about a man who abandoned his daughter because of his own misogyny either so.
Graphic: Xenophobia and Abandonment

I was hard to finish this book. I felt that the hero was imposed on the heroine because of loyalty and no because he felt a deeper attraction for her. Since its he first book of he series and having previously read Ms. Enoch's books, I look forward to the next one.

This was really enjoyable. Niall was quite swoony and Amelia-Rose was a little bit of a spitfire. I thought the two of them had a solid romance and I loved how they, and his mother, outsmarted her family. Overall it was a fun ride and I'm liking this series a whole lot (because of course I'm reading it out of order...haha)

Not her best but still a lot of fun. I look forward to reading the other two brothers’ stories.

Every once and a while I need a light fluffy read to soothe the soul, which was why I hopped on It's Getting Scot in Here, the title itself lent me a giggle! I've never actually read anything by Suzanne Enoch, so I was happy to explore a new author. [Of course, I don't live under a rock and see her name quite often!]
The overall story is fairly lovely, it didn't move quickly though and didn't have me turning the pages as fast as I'd like. I think because I had a hard time connecting to characters and engaging [side note: that could be due to the author's style of jumping around headspace—I'm not sure?] Niall MacTaggert was, of course, a favorite but even he couldn't pull me in fully. This is not to say that the book was dreadful because it wasn't, it was light and fluffy as I needed it to be, but it didn't engage *me*.
All in all, it was a nice read, and I'm glad I could read a new [to me] romance author.
