In this sequel to “Red Sparrow” Dominica is back in Mother Russia, trying to keep her head above water, spying for the Americans, while Nate Nash, her handler and former lover has no idea what has become of her. A new source is developed for the Russians, and suddenly, both Russian intelligence and the CIA are clambering to get their hands on the information about a secret nuclear program in the making.
This series is so amazingly written. The details and depth of knowledge in the spy craft is just top notch. You never doubt for a second that you are RIGHT THERE, making the drop, meeting the double agent... it’s impossible to put down. And of course, the romance between Nate and Dominica is this beautiful, tortured, dark Russian thing. Are they doomed? Maybe. But you can’t help but hope for these two.

Fast-paced with a lot of tension. My main criticism is with the writing of the Hannah/Nate/Dominika love triangle. I just didn't find it believable that Hannah would have a sexual relationship with Nate, realize she's in love with him and that he loves Dominika, but be genuinely happy to accept the situation with a smile on her face as she does her best to keep Dominika safe for Nate. Also, I find the stereotypes a little disconcerting. As a side note, again with grandma's antique hairbrush? Really? I hope it doesn't make an appearance in the third instalment. It is just creepy, superfluous and unhygienic. Have the woman buy a real dildo already!

Very much liked this one! For fans of Red Sparrow, this book will not dissapoint at all. Fast-paced, keeps your attention! But it's not so fast-paced that you get confused (as happens in some novels). Love the Dominika Egorova character. Kind of violent, but, if you ask me, that is necessary for the novel to read as real...lack of violence would just not be realistic at all. Good crime novel, interesting time in history, and lots of details. Recommended!

Compared to the first book, this one DRAGGED in terms of plot. There were a lot of moving pieces, new characters to be introduced, and just a lot to follow. It got confusing at times, and in that regard got a little dull At part. However when the action picked back up I was again totally invested.
I’m still in love with Nate and Dominika as characters. I especially just love how complex he’s making Dominika and hope in the third we get to see even more! Just please make it move a little faster...
