This story follows several characters in an epic fantasy world. Some are heroes, some are villains, some are human, some are not. When an ancient race of Wreths reemerges from the oblivion of legend, humanity gets pulled into an ancient war and forced to make tough choices.
It follows the author’s ensemble cast writing style similar to his space operas. It has a lot of plots and characters that wend into and out of each other. I really liked it, and it got WAY exciting near the end ... but the next book doesn't even have a publishing date yet!!
I received this book via a secret Santa exchange program. The author is a favorite of mine, so I was very excited to start a new series written by him. It was quite thick and a print book (which doesn't travel with me everywhere as my ebooks and audiobooks do), so it took me two months to read it.

I LOVED the worldbuilding. The mysteries are intriguing and I want to know more. The writing and characters are solid, but I really just want to know more about Ishara, the Wreths, the dragon... and I wish it came with less sex.
I must also read the sequels in book format. The audiobook narrator does a good dramatic reading, but man his voices for the female characters are annoying. Please read women's lines in a normal voice. please.
