My mom is a big fan of this author, so I read these Barbara Holloway novels sometimes. A little slow sometimes, but not bad stories.

Barbara Holloway gets into the courtroom again with this case. It's a case in which she has evidence to deny the offense for which her client is accused. She is presented with a very serious dilemma which taxes her physically as well as emotionally. The plot line is a bit thinner than some of her earlier books, but I still enjoy reading them.

I like the way the author has Barbara strive for her vision of justice & feel the daggers of discomfort from how she goes about getting it. Hopefully, the next novel will have more about Barbara's process & how she ends up dealing with her inner conflict.

While I was enjoying the story and the supporting characters, the main character, Barbara Holloway, was completely unlikable in my opinion. Once the murderer was revealed, halfway through the book, I decided that I couldn't take Barbara for one more page and gave up.

This book disappointed me, as I have really enjoyed previous ones in the series. There was no suspense here, as we found out who did it about half way through (and that was a complete cop-out). Barbara did things which were unethical and so potentially damaging to her client that I would have her struck off myself. And what was all that with the saintly Darren?
