This was the prequel to the entire Gossip Girl series. I was disappointed and did not think it had the same flavor as the earlier books. It just seemed to be about tying up loose ends and telling how each character started on their road to trouble. The end of the book makes it sound like the author is done with this series and is moving to more spin-offs. That is disappointing because I have not enjoyed The It Girl spin off as well as the original.

Classy bitchiness at its finest. Only book in the series I read and made me love the show even more. Gotta love being a girl.

Gossip Girl is my guilty pleasure, and I'm a sucker for backstories, so you probably know by now that I totally enjoyed this book. It's the story of how Serena and Nate first fell in love. Of how Serena had him first, but that she had to let go. How Dan first met Serena. How Blair became who she is. Perfect for every GG fan.

This might be the worst of the bunch so far, and that's really saying something.

I thought I would read this because I have seen the first 2 series of the TV show, but I found that I enjoyed the show more. The book was very repetitive (constant mentions of character A loving character B/Nate being stoned/Jenny's chest) when things I thought would have been more prominent (Blair's apparant bulimia/Chuck as a whole?) were skimmed over. I didn't feel like the book had much of a spark.

Back story to the Gossip Girl Series -- again, nothing too serious, but it made the perfect break in between chapters of my econometrics book.
The writing seemed a little lacking in this book but then again, it's teen chick lit. :)

Okay, this book is TOTALLY not in my normal favorites genre to read. I really stepped outside the comfort zone in reading this book— mostly to see what all the hype was about. I got really tired of the spoiled brat, entitled, holier than thou teenagers. I guess that’s the point of the book though. I’m really not interested in reading the rest of the series and most likely won’t. If you like spoiled rich kid, getting drunk at 15 and your parents not giving a rats ass about you, then this book is for you. Blah!

I always told myself I would read a gossip girl book someday! However, I hated it all of the characters were very shallow and boring it felt like all they did was backstab one another and watch breakfast at Tiffany's!
