This was my favorite book of the series that I have read! The ending was alright but I think that was because it is a prequel, so we already know the ending going in. It was fun and entertaining and I give it four and a half out of five stars.

I rated this novel 3 stars. The beginning was good, but as the novel progressed, it got kind of slow. The characters became a little bit annoying, and I honestly got really bored.

I decided to reread this book and as ever, nostalgia oversold this book to me. It is basically a whole book of not very much happening, and scene setting for later books. It was a bit of a struggle to get through at points.
I do enjoy the actual 'Gossip Gir'l pages of the book, written as online updates, they are usually witty and were nice interludes throughout.

I borrowed this from the local library because there's been a lot of talk about the Gossip Girl series, especially since the telly show came out. Now, it is VERY rare that I won't finish a book if I start it, and even rarer that I won't at least give it a good chance, but this book? I wouldn't want to waste another minute on it. Seriously, the writing in here makes my beloved Sweet Valley High look like Shakespeare in comparison.
Want some examples?
"Nate dove on top of her, all five foot eleven inches of his perfect, golden-brown-haired, glittering-green-eyed, fifteen-year-old boyness."
"...Nate's snow-dampened, godlike curls..."
"He rolled onto his back and wriggled like Serena's long-dead golden retriever, Guppy..."
All from the very first page. And it doesn't get any better. Turn the page and you can read all about the time "Serena kicked off her baby blue Uggs and scuffed her bare, Urban Decay Piggy Bank Pink-toenailed feet down the long hall to the stately town house's enormous, barely used all-white Italian Modern kitchen." Better yet, you could just not bother.
I've read some pretty bad YA Fiction in my time, but this? Ugh.

I really enjoyed reading this! The narration style is snarky, the chapters are quick, and the ridiculous stuff that these rich teens get away with is entertaining. I am really surprised that this is a prequel and not just the first book though, since this completely set up every main character's plotlines. I'll definitely be reading more of these!

I love this!! Again, books about the very wealthy and privileged are ones I love! and getting to see the backstory for a lot of the books was SO great!

I actually loved seeing how Serena fell for Nate and how everything was before she went to boarding school and returned to a "whole new world".
