I enjoy Perrin's insights on the human psyche and how she explores her characters' relationships with each other. Although I liked _Fresh Water for Flowers_ a bit better, this cross-generational story of young Justine and the people she meets at the senior center where she works (and elsewhere) was satisfying, too.

There's a great deal to like about this well-written layered story of generations of people in France and their lives and their secrets, but there were also some plot and character choices I really didn't dig.
