This book was one hell of a wild ride. I couldn't put it down. Every twist, every turn, every 'oh shit!' moment had me on the edge of my seat. Well, one thing is for sure - Rain Christiansen McKenna never does anything by halves.

For every case that Rain and the other detectives in the PTU work, the stakes get higher. And these are the highest they've ever been. Rain has decent control of his abilities at this point, but those don't help him much when he finds himself in the middle of the most dangerous - and, honestly, unbelievable - serial killer case he's ever worked. Throw in an ex of Danny's popping up, and it's clear that Rain is not having a good time.

But he's nothing if not methodical (granted, his methods usually come with some level of madness) and determined to solve the case, and continue to build the life that he wants with his loving, and devoted, husband by his side.

If this is truly the end of this series - as far as I know - then this series truly captured my heart and soul. I love these characters, and I love the growth they've shown over the series, and the absolutely ridiculous situations they find themselves in. I hope to see more of Rain, Danny, their family, and assorted ghosts. But I'm perfectly happy if things end here, too.

all the good things I like in a story: a twisty, dark plot, a smattering of angst, excellent banter and a happily ever after! Chefs kiss.

It's such a delight to be back in this world with one of my favorite bookish couples, Rain and Danny. By now, their relationship is quite solid and they're perfect for each other in every way. Which is also why the case was front and center in this book.

The case in question is a doozy and it gripped me right from the start. While the book was long, it didn't feel that way because S.E Harmon has a way of writing that just hooks me and makes me fly through her books in no time. I had to keep reading to see this case resolved.

Rain and Danny are such a wonderful couple. They're ssettled into their married life, happy together. The way they have each other's backs and Rain's occasional jealousy and their sexy times are a hightlight for me every time. But... I wish we could've gotten more of them. I loved what we got of them in this book but I wanted more because this couple is the best part of this series. I wanted to see them together more, being this happy married couple. I want more of Rain's sarcasm, more of their banter. And, yes, more steam. It didn't feel quite as balanced in this book, while it always did in the previous ones.

While I love the mystery and the ghostly shenanigans so much... this is still a romance book and I wasn't really a fan of how much of a backseat the romance takes. Don't get me wrong, everything we got in this book, I still devoured it and loved it all because the case is captivating and touches on a really tough topic. I just wanted a bit more balance.

Technically, the author could choose to end the series here if she wanted to. THe end is a strong HEA again so I would be satisfied and happy. Though if I had a say in it, I'd always want more because Rain and Danny are such a fun, amazing couple.

Definitely another great installments in this series, despite the lack of balance. If you're a fan of the series, I definitely recommend it.
