This was my book pick on this ‘books with movies’ season of Book Interrupted. This is an amazing true story of a 5 year old in India that got caught on a train and ultimately got lost. He got adopted by a family in Australia and then 25 years later because of Google Earth was able to find home again. This is an incredible story with an unbelievably happy ending. The book was slow in places and the movie changed some things but I enjoyed both.

I really enjoyed the film when I saw it and the book was just as enjoyable. Even though I knew what happened in this tale of a lost 5 year old boy in India it was good to read it in his own words

Such a sad but inspiring story. This book follows Saroo’s life from age 5 when he got separated and lost from his family in India, to getting adopted in Australia, and then finding his family again.

Read it all the way through from Miami to Austin flight. What a fascinating account of Saroo's childhood interwoven with his adult life. I do not want to spoil this for anyone, but you will enjoy his matter of fact way of telling his story. It is not full of sugar coating or superfluous words, it is deeply full of sorrow & survival as he faces the cruelty of big city India as a child on his own.

Not only was this an astonishing true story, but it was also very well written.
So much about it makes me thankful to have grown up in Australia with loving parents.
I haven't watched the movie yet, but will now.
