WOW.
I think this was one of the most brilliant and stupidest books I’ve had the pleasure of reading.
It gives a lot of backstory to the show, and vaguely includes the plots of some early episodes. While the tone is more or less the same, it is a lot darker and pushes a lot further than the show.
Also Rimmer is so deep in the closet I’m surprised he hasn’t arrived in Narnia yet.

Graphic: Death
Moderate: Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Addiction, Sexism, and Suicide

I've read this book so many times I can't even put a "finished reading" date because I just reread it so often.
Moderate: Child abuse, Death, Suicide, Grief, Pregnancy, Abandonment, Sexual harassment, and Classism
The tone of the book is very irreverent, and there is a sense of existential horror that sinks in when you consider the subtle and effective world building.
