Just absolutely awesome stuff! Such a fun read and funny as hell. Reminiscent of Douglas Adams but certainly not a direct copy. If anything perhaps more brilliant in some areas and a bit inferior in others. The whole bit about Rimmer making a copy of himself was just phenomenal. Want to dive right into the sequel but I’m in the middle of too many other books at the moment. But grand. Highly recommended!

I grew up watching Red Dwarf so this was a fun, nostalgic read for me.
I like Sci-fi that's set in space but that's almost a secondary plot line. Red Dwarf is really just about some guys fumbling along - the fact that they're in space isn't always that important.
A lot of Sci-fi (especially written by men) can be a bit awkward to read today but I think this has aged well - the same for the show!
I'm not sure I'm that motivated to read the rest of the series. I'm sure I'll pick them up at some point when I'm looking for an easy, low stakes read.

Apparently this is based on a TV show, but I've never seen it, and this book doesn't make me inclined to. Sure, there were some amusing moments in the book, but overall I spent most of the time thinking "this is stupid." Simply slapping absurd things together does not necessarily equate to humor, but I feel like that's often what the story was relying on.

I’m a bit biased as I think most of us who read this are. As a fan since childhood it was very interesting to see the how of Lister and Rimmer’s story.
The book pieces stories from the show and does so very well in my opinion. An added plus if you’re into audiobooks is Chris Barrie’s readings. I’m thankful to have a physical copy to cherish.
