This is the second book in the nectar and frost series it was a good read. I liked frost more but it was still a book.

This book had more spice scenes in it which was a good addition to the story, I liked how the relationship developed between the two main characters and how Ava grew more as a character. I enjoyed that she was a powerful female who ended up being the hero rather than needing the man to save her.

I like how this book had more POVs and o enjoyed the new characters of the unseelie that were introduced.

I was hoping for more from the book, I felt like there was a bit of repeating especially in the dungeon scenes.

PLOT

We return to the world of Faerie, though not in Faerie itself, but in the enemy territory of the Unseelie Kingdom—the Court of Shadows. At the end of the first book, Ava was about to confront Torin over a revelation she had. When she approached him and asked what she had, he accidentally almost froze her. In response, she used her magic by saying, “she wanted to go home,” and was then plunged through a portal. Torin, the Seelie King, followed her through the portal, only to discover that Ava, his intended bride, was actually Unseelie—his mortal enemy and a threat to his kingdom.

Even among the Unseelie, Ava is no more welcome in the Court of Shadows than Torin is. They are both regarded as traitors conspiring against the Unseelie.

Queen Mab of the Court of Sorrows is poised and ready to use whatever means necessary—whether through play, torture, or otherwise—to extract answers, leaving them both wondering, while separated, if they are truly on each other’s side or if they are the enemies they were born to be.

THOUGHTS

We begin Ambrosia right where we left off in Frost, which I loved. Often, when a book ends on a cliffhanger, the second book delves into the past before catching up to where the last book left off.

I was genuinely shocked to discover that Ava was indeed Unseelie.

Described with beautiful bronze horns and green hair, Ava, in her Unseelie form, was even more captivating to Torin, despite everything he knew he should feel.

Many in the Seelie Court begin to turn on King Torin, believing him to have abandoned them rather than being trapped. Those with a thirst for power exploit this situation to their advantage.

While the Seelie Kingdom is in turmoil, Shalini is stuck in Faerie until Torin returns to permit her return to the human world.

As conditions worsen in the Seelie Kingdom, Aeron, Shalini, and Princess Orla are forced to run and hide.

Meanwhile, Ava and Torin are fighting for their lives, grappling with whom to trust and struggling to communicate their true feelings. Their actions speak louder than their words, as they are forced to navigate their survival and escape.

I devoured this book. I couldn’t stop listening to it—whether I was in the car, working, or had a free moment, this book was always in my ear.

It was pure entertainment, just like I said about *Frost* (Book #1).

I had been eagerly awaiting the simmering tension between Torin and Ava to reach its peak, and while it did, I wanted more.

Their chemistry, banter, and dynamic were perfect.

If there’s anything I could have wished for from this book, it would be a more drawn-out ending and more intimate moments between Ava and Torin.

Given all they went through, I feel like we missed out on some juicy conversations that would have been exciting to read and/or listen to.

C.N. Crawford has made a lifelong reader out of me—whatever they publish, I will be reading.

FAVORITE QUOTES

“A Seelie king hurries for no one. Especially when he has his bewitching enemy in bed, naked and wet for him.”

“I would tear my own kingdom apart for you if it meant we could be together.”

“As I raced toward the castle, I spied a figure with black wings like a moth’s. My world titled. Ava, my love, what the fuck are you doing?”

“But my thoughts about Ava were their own kind of madness, and she’d already rendered me senseless.”

Ok let’s talk about ambrosia real quick. I loved book 1. Frost was so fun and cute and It was a really solid 4 star read for me! But I honestly didn’t love ambrosia as much. I did like it for sure. When the spice finally hit with Torin and Ava, it was so good! My only complaint in that the ending felt rushed alittle bit and the plot fell slightly flat for me.

So ambrosia is a slowburn as was book 1 and I don’t was hoping it would be a tad more spicy. I don’t need spice by any means but if it’s not spicy I do tend to compare the book them to the ya books that I still love and cherish to this day. And this book being less spicy don’t hold a candle to those for me.

So with all of that being said, I liked it. It was a good read. But I didn’t love it. 3.75.

Liked it better than the first book but also the plot devices are slightly fucked up? The main villain comes out of nowhere at the end and is easily vanquished. The time in unseelie lands is good though… but seems like a lot of violence to just sweep under the bridge at the end of the book ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ slightly not a believable ending.

A really lovely conclusion to the duology. Ava finally learns the truth about who she really is and where she comes from.
