This is my first ever ARC read.....I absolutely LOVE this book.
This is also my first written review!

Chase, the Dom, is a fixer. Isabella is Chase's best friend's sister, and she is a influencer, clothing designer who seems to be living the careless, immature lifestyle. There is character growth and an amazing story that draws you in and won't let you go.

Definitely one of my favorite enemies to lovers with phenomenal character growth. Some great SPICY scenes make it all the more better.

Lyra brings these two characters together that works so seamlessly and beautifully in my eyes.

Go check it out!! MARCH 29, 2022!!

I’ve never been a dark romance fan but Lyra hooked me with Frayed Edge! Holy cow!
This is a spin-off from her Rivera Brothers series, picking up with the Rivera Sister Isabella and family friend Chase. If you haven’t read the other stories, you won’t miss anything but this does continue a family so there are spoilers on who ends up with whom.
TW: heavy BDSM play, stalking, abduction, sexual assault, graphic violence, and mental health struggles that may be disturbing to some readers. Reader discretion is advised.

Ok. All of that is there. For those who are still Interested … buckle up because holy schnikes was this a page turner!
I am not a typical dark romance fan but I could NOT put this book down. It has spice in CHAPTER 2! And it only gets better and spicier from there. The growth of Isabella “Bella” and Chase separately is phenomenal. But I was so impressed with how Lyra grew the couple. I don’t want to spoil this book but there’s one scene I fangirled over towards the end. Where Chase shows Bella he will protect her the only way he knows how, even when she thinks she can handle it herself.

This is heavy BDSM. But it is respectful and honest to those in the lifestyle. It illustrated so beautifully the partnership between any D/s Interaction: whether that’s playing for a night or as a couple.

This is a great standalone but I see so much potential for a series. And it makes you want to revisit the Rivera brothers all over again!

I was lucky enough to be a beta reader for this book and I’m here to tell you that if you like:

❣️Romance
❣️ Suspense
❣️ Spice (with BDSM)

and you are comfortable tackling some darker themes such as trauma and recovery you NEED to read this book.

This story weaves together sex, love, pride, recovery, and family into a story that will have you crying at times and sweating at others.

Isabella’s journey both with recovery and letting people into her heart really hit home for me. Learning and unlearning habits and coping mechanisms doesn’t happen over night.

Chase learns what it means to love someone as they are and that a cold exterior can hide the biggest hearts.

This is the first book in The Edge Series and I am already wanting more of this set of characters.

This is the first book in The Edge series and boy did it start off strong. Warning though, this book is dark, so read all content warnings before picking it up. I really really enjoyed this book. I think you’ll also like it to if:
▪️You love some spice (and some kink).
▪️You like a little side of thriller with your
romance
▪️Banter, banter, and more banter
▪️You like your book boyfriends just a touch morally gray
▪️You like your female main characters feisty, strong, and independent
▪️You love to read about characters healing from their pasts and learning to be themselves again

I think the piece of this book that really caught me was the fact that it’s dark, but that wasn’t because the MMC treated the FMC like garbage until the end (like a lot of other dark romances I’ve read). Shit goes down in this book for sure, but the the relationship between the main characters wasn’t part of that.

If I can convince you to read this book for any reason, it’s the main two characters. We were briefly introduced to Chase and Isabella in Lyra’s Rivera Brothers trilogy, so I was already pumped to get to know them better. Chase mother f-ing Stevens has become a top tier book boyfriend for me. He is so attuned to Isabella and everything she needs emotionally and physically. He’s also not afraid to get his hands dirty for her safety and we love that. Isabella is one of the strongest characters I’ve read. She knows what she wants and goes for it. I really admired Isabella because she is submissive, but not in the way that submissive women are written in most romance novels. She has personality, fire, and is capable of taking care of herself while also seeking help. Reading her journey is this book was just…ugh…so good.

This book will keep you on your toes, break your heart, and stitch it back together with a side of double fudge cake.

An easy 5 stars from me ❤️

Chase Stevens has been added to the roster.

This book artfully weaves the lives of these characters and marries the spicy moments in an authentic and believable way. I have a difficult time when books slam-dunk you into spice without warming you up first - this is not that book. Lyra is gifted at creating the scene and drawing you into the tension. The banter between Chase and Isabella is teasing and you really get a sense of the characters and their emtions as they experience the story, both separate and together.

Lyra has me out here liking a blonde MC?? Unheard of.

Please check TW/CW in advance.
