Susan Dennard does it again! Each of her books takes it up a notch and demands I reinvest in these characters. They feel so real and the heartbreak so raw. But there's also the bonds and the hopefulness. I cherish that first time through and then devour a second read.

A bit challenging to understand at times and at times confusing with the various titles and characters that appeared in this novel. Regardless, a fun read.
The Witchlands series has easily swept into my life as a favorite of mine and certain characters (AEDUAN) have become my favorites. This series is filled with action, friendship, betrayals, love, and so much worldbuilding! A fun series with brilliant writing.

The beginning and middle were kind of slow, and it had so many perspectives that at times it was a little tiring. It was also really confusing at times, what with all the names and gods and paladins and multiple souls and such. But overall it was still a good fit for the series! I still enjoyed it and I’m glad it took the time it needed to build and lay the way for the final book. I still loved the characters, Iseult and Safi are my favs and that did not change, but I didn’t like that Merik and Aeduan didn’t really have perspectives BUT YAY MERIK CAME BACK AND IM SO GLAD! My favorite thing about this book was the self-discovery and, ultimately, acceptance journey that Iseult went on. I- I love Iseult so much. Bring it on final book.
