Bloody hell!!! This was amazing. If you like Chris Carter’s books, you will, in all probability, like this one too.

A man is stabbed to death at a music festival right in the midst of a huge crowd. A woman is crushed to death by her heavy closet. Another woman is suffocated by her own scarf. A man is skinned to death. Edinburgh is a war zone and bodies are piling up!
And what do these victims have in common? They are all do-gooders and charity workers.
Are the murders committed by one individual or are there multiple killers with a taste for gore? Is there going to be a fifth victim?
D.I Callanach and Turner must race against time and get themselves entangled in a game of cat and mouse to stop the carnage.

This was an enjoyable page-turner! Can't wait to read the next one in the series.

Het tweede boek van Helen Fields pakt wederom weer ijzersterk uit. De laatste hoofdstukken vlogen voorbij en hoe elke verhaallijn bij elkaar komen is subliem.

This is the second book in the series and I was pleasantly surprised by how it surpassed my expectations. The plot is gripping, with fast-paced and brutal murders that keep you on the edge of your seat. But be warned because they are graphic and the author doesn't hold anything back. Luc and Ava face intense pressure from all sides as they struggle to find leads in the case. Meanwhile, Ava's personal life adds extra stress, straining her relationship with Luc, who is still dealing with his own psychological issues following a rape allegation.

Ava is also now in a relationship with an old flame, who is an absolute tool I really feel for Luc throughout the book.

What I really appreciate about the book is how the author portrays the characters' flaws and struggles, making them feel extremely real and relatable. None of them are perfect and you can imagine working alongside them. I can't wait to see what happens next in the series, especially after the way this book ended.

Chapter 18
Don't like the dynamic with collegues anymore. He is also going behind his boss's back.
