Sick and rereading childhood favorites for fun. I’d probably count the whole series as one book.
Clearly remember these being some of my favorite books. Would definitely recommend for YA readers — maybe middle school. Noting that there is a mention of r*pe that really surprised me; I didn’t recall that at all.
The characters have a bit more struggle and flesh out their personality in the second book. And the humor in this one is more pronounced than in the first, which is always appreciated.

not only did this stand up to what i remember as a preteen, the audiobook version had a full cast and it was a lovely and easy listen.

Excellent second book in the series
Where SANDRY'S BOOK was about he four children meeting and becoming friends and recognizing some power, this book truly is more Tris's story than anyone else's. Also the introduction of a major plot helps keep things moving and exciting! Also at times confusing, and the end was quite abrupt, which is why 4 stars rather than 5. Super excited to start Daja's book!

I love seeing the relationships and trust develop between these kids. Unfortunately, my brain's tendency to tune out when fight scenes are described meant I missed some very cool magic since I listened to this one.
