What happens when four young mages who have never really been accepted elsewhere but Discipline Cottage suddenly find the home being attacked? And pirates are the one doing it? Well, for one thing, they find they are much stronger together than they thought and pirates don't really stand a chance against them.

10/10 would live at the windong circle temple; on a more relevant note, tris' development was good, as was the other three's

Read to kids - this one has a lot more gore and death in it, but still great!

Max (age 10): it was good, I liked Briar, I found the bird very amusing.

Elly (age 8): Briar is sweet and I really like Rosethorn, she’s like Mia (our grumpy cat) in the morning. I liked the plot.

Solid book. Part fantasy. Part mystery (not in The Who-done-it vein though)
