A book that shapes my random ideas into something I read and thought: "I know this"
Strangely and philosophically familiar.
If there is any definition of a book version of me, here it is.
Definitely a book I would constantly reread.
Beautiful masterpiece.

Definitely one of my favorite cartoonists, his ideas are fresh and the way he lays them out. The Shape of Ideas talks about the the strike of new ideas, the resurrection of old ones and everything in between. Also its very, very funny..

I loved the look into the creative process from the struggles to the feeling of success. I loved the visual representation of the struggles we all have in coming up with, developing, and losing ideas.

I don’t think this graphic novel will have a long lasting impact on me but it’s very relatable and I loved the art style and color pallet.

A little while ago, I was thinking about buying a poster by Grant Snider, who has created so many good cartoons on the internet that they have become familiar memes to me. But then I saw he had a book and bought that instead, so I'd have a volume of them to muse over and possibly to show to the writers in my classes. Snyder creates thoughtful, whimsical one-page comics that are more philosophical than funny -- cute, rather than stuffy, thinkpieces that invite personal reflection. Here, in The Shape of Ideas, most of these cartoons are meta-commentary on the creative process, and if you're a writer or artist, you will easily connect to what he's saying. It's not really a "prompt" book to stimulate new concepts, but the book can be reassuring when you're feeling tired or lost or blocked. This is a gift. I will be showing a page or two from this book to my students to inspire some journaling, for sure. Look for Snyder's work by searching for "Incidental Comics" online -- and look for his upcoming new title, [b:What Color Is Night?|43885859|What Color Is Night?|Grant Snider|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1551787729l/43885859._SX50_.jpg|68280142]

A simple and fun guide to build and work on new ideas. Nice illustrations and very didactic.

This book is visual poetry. Grant Snider muses on the creative process which charming simplicity and relatable honesty. Although I've long followed Snider's work online and had previously seen many of the strips in his book, having them collected into a single unit and organized by their creator lent a new perspective as I read. I'll be returning to this one again.

I personally think of Grant Snider as a genius and envy his thoughts and ideas so much.. because why can't they occur to me?
I have always followed his comic strips on social media, so to be owning this book which acts as a reminder of good things is a true joy. Reading the book makes you realize even more about why I shouldn't envy his ideas but rather take inspiration from them. (Hey, I already knew that and I will still envy okay?)
The shape of ideas is like my personal motivation, that art is born out of nowhere and everywhere if you look and work hard enough. Totally recommend this book and all of Grant Snider's work to everyone.
