Filled with more character insights, warfare and the undying bond calling priya and malini together, I was glad to be back and not see a single thing coming. Be prepared for a rollercoaster of hope and dread. Onto the third book!

We follow Malini's fight for her throne, Priya's battle against the rot and Bhumika's struggle to keep everyone safe from themselves and their gods in this one.
I still like the characters but it didn't really feel like they grew at all until like the last 10% of the story which was a bit disappointing. Nothing really surprised me in this one either, some serious middle book syndrome going on with this one but it did set up a lot of interesting things for the last book.

took a while to finish bc i was busy with life but very good story. priya and bhumika are temple elders and ruling arithanyi. malini is trying to take the throne from chandra. she eventually asks priya to help her and priya comes to her and does. but the yaksa are back to take the world over. malini eventually gets the throne and kills chandra. priya is told to cut out malini from her heart and she stabs her and then goes back home. bhumika is told how to kill the yaksa but then goes somewhere unknown. adityi gives himself up to the fire and dies. priya and malini confess their love for each other but it’s not enough in this world and time. not sure how book 3 will go

This book was kind of a disappointment compared to the first. It was quite repetitive during the first half, nothing interesting really happened. The characters were pretty boring compared to The Jasmine Throne. Bhumika was the only interesting character, I loved her story line. But the majority of this book was just telling, I wish we could have actually seen Malini be a badass Empress and scheme her way to winning against Chandra. I will read the sequel because I got the ARC on Net Galley.

Aaaaargh! My only thought as I write this is, I have to wait until November for the next book.
I thought the first book was good. It set up the world, the history, the different royal families and the characters.
This book though, this one. It took the strong base from the first book and dove right into war, strategy, mind game after mind game, love, betrayal, foolishness. The ending, was not what I thought it would be, which is going to make it an epic finale for the last one.
I am team Bhumika through and through! You would think as you read, that she is nothing. Then she did the things she did and then some. How could you not root for her?
November, please come fast.
