Rachel is a hospital coroner who gets a shock when a dead body comes back to life. Etienne, a vampire, was killed by a vampire hunter and
reanimates after some recovery time. Pudge the vampire hunter bursts into the morgue and fatally injures Rachel so Etienne feels obliged to turn her to save her. Trouble is, Rachel refuses to believe she is a vampire and Pudge won't give up on killing them both.

What did I like about the book? I loved Pudge! He was so pathetic and weird and a total nutjob and I liked the scenes after the kidnap where he is prancing around in his fake teeth and flapping cape! His interview with the police was very funny as well. He was the best thing in the book though I also liked the plot itself.

BUT...

Etienne wasn't the smartest of vampires with his half-assed attempts to explain to Rachel what she was. He wasn't smart enough to realise that maybe he ought to see Pudge as a threat since he'd killed him several times already! He was a bit annoying. Rachel was the whineist bitch on the planet. Every chapter we got her refusal to accept the facts so it had to be explained to her AGAIN. Then you got her snotty attitude and lack of gratitude for being saved AGAIN. And on and on it went. It was too much plot repetition for my liking and the whole middle of the book was pretty much a bore.

Compared to the first of these books I read [b:The Accidental Vampire|1422253|The Accidental Vampire (Argeneau, #7)|Lynsay Sands|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255573310s/1422253.jpg|2729556], this one was not very good at all. Perhaps more Pudge and less of Rachel's whining could have made this a really good book.

I read the first book in this series a few months ago and liked it so when my library bought most of the books later in the series I decided to continue reading. I enjoyed Rachel and Etienne's story. It was interesting to watch Rachel go from having no understanding of the Argeneau's world to understanding the morality of the decisions they made. I liked Rachel and Etienne as a couple though it was a little unbelievable that Etienne randomly found the girl of his dreams because she saved his life (not uncommon for paranormal romance logic though). I did like watching them bond over vampire video games and Etienne's feeling on sleeping in coffins was pretty entertaining. I'm looking forward to more of this series.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought that the suspense through out was great. I do think that rachel played stupid alittle too much. Especially about the "lifemate" idea. All in all I though this was great and cannot wait to read #3.

Love bites is the second book for Lyndsay Sands' Argeneau series. The main characters are Etienne and Rachel.

The book is about a human (I forgot his name) who is jealous about Etienne and tries to kill him few times. Rachel works at the morgue and can't let him take Etienne's head so the man accidently kills Rachel. Etienne wants to save her, so he turns her.

I really liked that it wasn't insta love (although I those but they aren't other peoples cup of tea). I loved that even though they didn't know each other, they wanted to keep each other safe.

I didn't like how Rachel acted when she found out that he was a vampire, like what other proof do you need?!

Our protagonist in this story is named Rachel. She is a coroner that works the graveyard shift. When an attractive dead guy gets rolled in, she can't believe she is attracted to said dead man. But that's alright because her "dead" guy is actually a vampire.

Etienne can't believe his luck. He's ended up in the morgue twice this week. Pudgy is really becoming a problem - especially since he just axed the pretty redhead coroner. She saved his life, so now he must save her the only way he can.

Lynsay Sands has quite the imagination. When you combine that with her humor, you get a lighthearted paranormal romance. She has created such a unique type of vampire, and I like them. You see, they originated from Atlantis. Their scientist/physicians created a "nano" that goes into the bloodstream to help repair damage and/or trauma. It turned out to be ultra powerful and uses their blood to keep them strong and youthful. I mean, how awesome is that?

The big negative is how perfect everything works out. As a vampire, you can only change one human. Most of them wait to change their lifemate so they won't spend eternity alone. And it just so happens that Rachel is Etienne's lifemate. How ironic?! The villain wasn't much of a villain either. I know this is a lighthearted paranormal romance, but where's the action!? I don't appreciate the extra-cheesy conflicts situations. It isn't believable.

With all that being said, I give this a solid 3 stars. It was an enjoyable short read, but I didn't love it.

Book two in the Argeneau series, Love Bites, was one I enjoyed about the same amount as the first one (reviewed here). This is one of my favorite vampire romance series, mostly because of the twist on the vampire lore. They’re vampires created via science rather than magic and I just think that’s such a fun twist.
Rachel and Etienne are a pair that met by chance. And when Rachel is almost killed Etienne makes the choice to turn her as the one person he is ever allowed. This turns out great because they turn out to be life mates (surprise! not, hah).
I liked Etienne. He’s a video game developer that uses the truth about his race to create a hugely popular game. He also enjoyed spending time in a coffin, because it’s where he gets his best ideas. That really cracked me up. It also created some assumptions that complicated the story.
Rachel works nights in the morgue. She’s just finally gotten a job on the day shift when she’s almost killed and then turned. Upon waking, she is upset because she believes she’s now cursed to only walk the night. It was a little funny, already knowing the facts behind vampires, to see her so upset about all the things she won’t be able to do. I liked that she stood up for her beliefs with a certain situation that she’s involved in.
Overall, the second book in this series was another that I enjoyed but didn’t adore. It was fun and funny. The drama and the antics and the sex were all pretty good. This series is well written and easy to read.
