I wasn’t a huge fan of this Nero Wolfe installment. But as I read the series out of chronological order, I greatly appreciated uncovering the origin of Lily Rowan.

I'm always at a loss when trying to describe a book that is part of a series. This is an early Nero Wolfe, it introduces an important recurring character and accomplishes the remarkable in removing Wolfe from his home. Madcap, featuring a number of seating-related outrages against our distinguished detective.

One of my favorite Nero Wolfe books, and a fine one to start with. Introduces Lily Rowan, one of the best irregular characters from the books.

I am not really a fan of investigations where the guilty are convinced to suicide based upon made up evidence. But if.it has got to be done, best done by Wolfe.

Typical for the series, but not particularly interesting and had too many irrelevant characters.
