Interesting engaging read particularly to see the development of a brand over time.

I don’t know how this book compares to the typical business book, but there were portions that I enjoyed and mostly portions I didn’t. I enjoyed the discussion of the cultural origins and evolution of the preppy style and the evolution of specific J.Crew styles. It made me nostalgic for the catalogs from the 80s and 90s.
.
About half way through, the original owners were ousted and there’s a long overview of the new CEO’s life story and all the steps and missteps of the company after that. That was mostly dull and confirmation that books about business aren’t my thing.

Very interesting book about J Crew. So much I did not know and the a lot of nostalgic feelings as I remembered shopping their catalog for the first time.
